What to wear…

Since your bump is the main focus of your session, I recommend wearing a solid color, rather than distracting patterns — this creates the most flattering lines, and will give your photos a clean, classic, gorgeous look! Many women choose to wear a long, flowy dress. You can purchase these from specialty shops, and there are many options available on Amazon! (Click here for some possibilities!)

Many of my moms choose to do an outfit change, to give their session variety! Often, maternity sessions take place in one location (rather than an engagement session, where we run all over the place!). Having two outfit options can give your session more variety, especially if we’re hanging out in one general area for your whole session. Let me know if you’ll be choosing two outfits, so I can plan your session accordingly!

Neutrals such as blush, tans, light pinks, faint blues and teals, creams, grays and whites will always result in more of a light and airy look to your images. These colors photograph softer and more romantically!

Some moms choose to incorporate florals into their session. A simple flower crown can be a beautiful touch, especially with a long, neutral dress.

If your spouse or partner will be included in the shoot, the goal is coordinating outfits instead of matching!

For guys, I recommend that you avoid patterns that are smaller than a dime! These small patterns can create strange visual effects in a digital camera.

A long flowy dress…

…can give your photos a classic, clean, fresh feel!

A slower, calmer pace…

…allows me to photograph beautiful, quiet moments that you’ll treasure forever!

Incorporate siblings…

…for a sweet memory of just the three of you 🙂

I’m always looking for beautiful light…

…so let’s schedule your session in the morning or evening, for the most flattery, glowy light possible!

Wear what’s comfortable…

…and choose a style that shows who you are! If flowy dresses aren’t your thing, that’s FINE! I want you to feel relaxed and at ease!

A second outfit…

…can add flair and variety to your session!

Pinterest is full of adorable photo ideas…

…so let me know if you find one that you want to recreate!

I can’t wait to capture this beautiful, precious time in your life!

It’s an honor to be your photographer!
