Back in May, when our Chicago weather still hadn't made up it's mind about whether or not it wanted to be warm, I met Lori and Portier in Rogers Park, early on a Saturday morning. Lori and Portier have such a fun story -- they met playing basketball together, so we found a lakeside court and played around a bit. I've met Lori a couple of times before, in passing, but this was the first time Portier and I had been introduced or I had ever seen them together. It was clear to me, from the start, how much respect, love, and commitment exists between these two. They were so kind and sweet, laughing at my (bad) jokes and going along with my suggestions without hesitation. These two are fantastic together, and we can't wait for their springtime wedding next year.
This was such a special wedding for us to shoot! I grew up with Ryan's family -- his dad is our dearly-loved pastor, his sister is one of my dearest friends, Ryan is my brother's close friend, and their whole family just feels like family to us -- so it was an incredible, incredible honor to shoot the wedding of Ryan and Jenny! Jenny is, without exaggeration, probably the sweetest person I've ever met, and Ryan is just hilarious and serious and genuine, all at once. It was a joy to capture all the love and happiness on their wedding day.
Here's a peek at their beautiful day! Their wedding took place in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and their reception was at the beautiful Tanglewood Barn. (Make sure you scroll down toward the end... this is the first time we had horses show up on a wedding day! So much fun!!)
